Thirza Schaap’s work explores the body’s relationship to scale, time, and terrain through drawing, moving image, and installation. Best known for Plastic Ocean, she uses found plastic to create visually seductive yet unsettling compositions that confront our culture of waste and consumption. This is the paradox at the centre of Plastic Ocean: the aesthetic appeal of waste becomes an unsettling mirror for our throwaway culture.
