Terms & Conditions, ANNA Award 2023

  • Applicants must be women-identifying.
  • The applicant’s work must fall into the category of Contemporary African art - understood to be art made by artists in Africa and the African diaspora.
  • There are no restrictions based on age, training or nationality.
  • There is no restriction on the medium of works that can be submitted.
  • The artist must be the owner and the work(s) submitted are of their own origination. The artist must hold all moral and intellectual property rights.
  • The image submitted must accurately portray the artwork.
  • Latitudes Online reserves the right to reject applications of work that are deemed unsuitable for exhibition, be it explicit or antagonising, at our discretion.
  • The award selection will be made by Latitudes Online and a third-party selection committee.
  • 12 shortlisted finalists will each receive a free profile on Latitudes Online
  • The winner will be awarded R100,000, which will be paid directly to the winner, by ANNA Organic Products, as well as a year’s supply of ANNA Organic Products. 
  • By submitting artwork you will be granting Latitudes Online usage rights for your images in their online promotional material for this current and for future projects. All selected artists give permission that images of their artworks can be used for future promotion by Latitudes Online and their sponsors and partners. The copyright for each artwork stays with the artist.
  • The applicant agrees that their email data will be used by Latitudes Online and their sponsors to inform them about future opportunities, updates and news.
  • By entering work into the open call, shortlisted artists agree to be contacted at any point pre and during the award campaign. Please ensure you provide us with correct email addresses and telephone numbers and notify us should these change.
  • Latitudes Online can not accept any entries without correct submission or after the deadline.
  • Submission deadline is Friday 16 June 2023 midnight GMT+2.
  • Relatives of the selection committee cannot apply.
  • Latitudes Online reserves the right to change members of the selection committee, its sponsors and prizes if necessary at any time during the entire process of the open call and the award campaign.
  • Should Latitudes Online hold a physical event for the finalists of the ANNA Award, the artist agrees to try their best to be present during the opening / award event.
  • All work submitted must be available for sale by Latitudes Online should the artist be selected as a finalist. 
  • Shortlisted artists will be required to read carefully and agree to the exhibition participation agreement detailing their obligations for being  shortlisted/exhibited and promoted.
  • Returning applicants are permitted a maximum of three entries for the ANNA Award. Please note that as the aim of the Award is to discover new talent, first-time applicants will be given preference.
