The Latitudes Podcast featuring Cinga Samson

-----------

We set out our lives for the results, but at the end, it’s not the result that’s important, it’s every moment. - Cinga Samson

In this episode, painter Cinga Samson speaks about home, spirituality, his inspirations, and, in light of his meteoric rise in the art world, the meaning of success.

Cinga Samson is a self-taught South African artist who has established himself as an important new voice in contemporary painting. Since starting his career in 2011, Samson has shown with South African galleries such as blank projects, and in the past few years, has gained international reach with solo shows at Perrotin and the FLAG Art Foundation. The young painter’s auction records have soared into the six-figure stratosphere, and in May 2021, he signed with White Cube Mason's Yard, indicating a broader global interest in his signature haunting portraits. We speak to Samson as he closes his first solo with White Cube, titled ‘Nzulu yemfihlakalo’.
